Jan Machart is a piano technician, tuner and piano dealer. He started playing the piano in elementary school, but he never wanted to become a professional pianist. On the recommendation of his piano professor Ester Špinarová, he decided to go to study at the Secondary Tuning School in Prague. Under the guidance of Professor Zdeněk Procházka, he studied tuning for 5 years. After graduating in 1994, he joined the Rendl Piana company. In 2001, he became independent and founded his own piano workshop. He completed internships at prestigious piano manufacturers Steinway & Sons., Bösendorfer, Yamaha. Gradually, he began to collaborate with important music institutions, such as the Czech Philharmonic, the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts, Czech Radio, the Prague Symphony Orchestra. Prague FOK, Prague Chamber Philharmonic, etc. On the stages of these institutions, he met the most important pianists of today. He tuned and prepared pianos, for example, for Grigory Sokolov, Krystian Zimerman, Garrick Ohlsson, Eugen Indjic, Lang Lang, Helena Grimaud, Ivan Moravec, Ivan Klánský and many others. From other genres such as Chick Corea and Hiromi. But it's not just orchestras, concert halls and schools that his company provides piano tuning and service. He also collaborates, for example, with festivals such as the Prague Spring, Dvořák's Prague, Strings of Autumn, for which he provides piano service. In 2011, he and his wife Andrea founded the company Machart PIANA, s.r.o., which sells Yamaha and Bösendorfer pianos. This year, it opened a new piano salon in Prague, which offers the widest range of pianos of these brands in the Czech Republic.
